ACRA - BASKETBALL - ACRA is hosting open gym basketball for kids at the Ione Junior High School on Friday's from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. The format is "pick up game" style for the 12 and older crowd. The cost is $3.00 per person per night. For more information, call the ACRA office at 209-257-1764.
ACRA RECREATION PROGRAMS - Amador County Recreation Agency (ACRA) offers school activities for 6th, 7th and 8th graders and up at Ione Junior High School. Meet at the field. For more information, call 257-0693.
ED HUGHES MEMORIAL ARENA is now available for "Night Rides" on non-scheduled evenings. The usual cost of $7.00 per rider applies with an additional charge of $10.00 an hour to run the lights. Please keep in mind the arena is closed at 5:00 p.m. the night before events. You can arrange a "Night Ride" by calling 209-274-2412, ext. 100.

132nd Homecoming - May 9-11, 2008 - Highlights: Carnival, Fireworks Display,
Costume Contest, Little League Games, Open Barrel Race, Rodeo, etc. Programs listing the events for the entire weekend are available at the local businesses in Ione.
Ione Railfair and Vintage Motorfest will be held Memorial Day weekend, May 24th and 25th at the Union Pacific rail yard near the Ione Jr. Highw School. The event will feature many vintage railroad motorcars and speeders and will also include a stagecoach, Model-T fire truck, classic maintenance equipment and other agricultural machinery. Rides to the public will be available on a miniature scale train. The Rialfair opens at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. Red Ribbon Choir presents Radio Station K.I.D.S. - This year they are doing a kid's style take off on WKRP in Cincinnati. It's a story put to music of kids trying to save their radio station by playing better music. Friday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ione Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room. Donations accepted at the door. Refreshments available after the show.
Poker Run and Car Show in May - The Amador Foundation and Landgraf Cancer Research Fund is sponsoring a Poker Run & Car Show on Saturday, May 31, 2008. The car show is open to pre-'74 vehicles. Pre-registration fee is $45, $55 on the day of the event. Contact Tom Pifari, 209-274-3754.
Bulldog Blanket Fundraiser for 6th Grade Science Camp - As a fundraiser for the 6th Grade Science Camp, Ione Elementary Bulldog blankets have been ordered with established in 1858 printed on each blanket.
